Cold Burn of Magic

Cold Burn of Magic - Jennifer Estep Overall an easy and enjoyable read, if a bit simple and predictable - like popcorn or a snackfood of a book. With 17 and 19 year old protagonists and real world filled with magic and monsters it falls at some nexus of teen, young adult, (sub)urban fantasy, and magical realism. I plan the read the rest of the series when it comes out, but don't feel compelled to read the author's entire bibliography.

Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker: A Novel

Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker: A Novel - Jennifer Chiaverini I got this book from a goodreads giveaway. I was interested in reading something outside of my usual genres and remembered liking some historical fiction as a kid. This book really wasn't for me. I often found my self wondering how there could be so much of the book left when so much of the civil war had already happened. It was, from my perspective, a nice story and an okay, but somewhat dense, book. I suspect that for someone particularly interested in the era or the genre it would have been a great read.

The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins I haven't been grabbed by a story like this in a while. I only wish I already had the second book and didn't have to wait until it comes on monday
